Birthday freebies are one of the easiest wins in the deal world. Join a few free rewards programs, add your birthday, and your inbox and apps start filling up with free coffee, desserts, pancakes, beauty gifts and more. The catch is that every brand has its own rules: some want you to sign up weeks ahead, some need a purchase first, and some rewards disappear after a day.
We went through 28 of the best birthday freebies and checked each one against the brand’s own rewards page or a recent report. For each one you’ll see what you get, what you have to do, and how long you have to use it, so nothing expires before you get there.

How to get the most birthday freebies
Before the list, a few habits that make the difference between “I got three free things” and “I ate for free all week”:
- Sign up early. Some programs need you to join days or weeks before your birthday (Starbucks wants at least a week, Chuck E. Cheese at least 7 days). Aim for a month ahead.
- Add your birthday to every profile. Most rewards are automatic, but only if the date is saved.
- Make a qualifying purchase. A few birthday freebies only unlock after you’ve bought something in the past year, like Starbucks, Jersey Mike’s, Auntie Anne’s and Dairy Queen.
- Check the window. Some last one day, some a week, some the whole month. Use the short ones first.
- Use a separate email. A free email account just for rewards keeps your main inbox clean.
Free birthday food and drinks
This is where most of the free stuff on your birthday comes from. Coffee shops, dessert spots and sit-down restaurants all compete for your birthday visit.
1. Starbucks: free drink or food item
The Starbucks birthday reward is a free handcrafted drink or food item for Starbucks Rewards members. You need to join at least 7 days before your birthday and have made at least one Star-earning purchase. Green members redeem on their birthday, Gold members get 7 days and Reserve members get 30 days, according to Starbucks’ rewards FAQ. Multi-serve items, alcohol and packaged coffee don’t count.
Tip: Save it for a drink you’d normally hesitate to pay for, like a large specialty latte.
2. Dutch Bros: free drink
Dutch Rewards members get a free birthday drink added to the app on their birthday, and it’s good for 30 days. Scan your Dutch Pass and tell your broista you want to use the birthday drink (Dutch Bros support). If you download the app on your birthday, it shows up the next day.
3. Baskin-Robbins: free scoop
Create a Baskin-Robbins account in the app or online and fill out your profile. A free scoop is added to your app on your birthday. Sign up a couple of weeks before your birthday month to be safe.
4. Dairy Queen: birthday reward in the app
DQ Rewards members get a birthday reward in the DQ app. To qualify, order at least $1 as a member in the 45 days before your birthday, then check the app around the big day. Rewards can vary by location, so look at your app for the exact offer.
5. Culver’s: free scoop, twice a year
Culver’s celebrates you twice. Rewards members get a free scoop of custard with two toppings during their birthday month and their half-birthday month, so you get a second treat six months later.
6. Nothing Bundt Cakes: free Bundtlet
Bundtastic Rewards members get a free individual Bundtlet with no purchase needed. You can pick it up 7 days before or after your birthday. Limit one reward per order.
7. Auntie Anne’s: free pretzel
Auntie Anne’s rewards members get a free pretzel added automatically for their birthday, as long as they’ve made a purchase in the past year.
8. Shake Shack: free classic shake
Add your birthday to your Shake Shack app profile and opt in to emails. On your birthday you get a one-time code for a free classic shake (vanilla, chocolate or strawberry), good for 30 days. It works on app or web orders of at least $5, not in the shack or through delivery apps.
9. Smashburger: free shake
Smashrewards members get a free shake in any flavor within 7 days of their birthday. It can’t be combined with other offers or used through third-party delivery.
10. Portillo’s: free slice of cake
Join Portillo’s Perks and get a free slice of their famous chocolate cake during your birth month.
11. Denny’s: free Grand Slam
Join Denny’s Rewards (free) and get a free Grand Slam during the week of your birthday. It’s one of the best free birthday meals because breakfast is served all day.
12. IHOP: free pancakes
IHOP Rewards members get five PanCoins on the first day of their birthday month, enough for a full stack of Original Buttermilk pancakes with no minimum purchase. Join before your birthday month starts.
13. Chick-fil-A: free treat or entrée
Chick-fil-A One members get a birthday reward that grows with their tier, according to Chick-fil-A:
- Member: a Chocolate Chunk Cookie or Chocolate Fudge Brownie
- Silver: a dessert like a small milkshake, frosted lemonade or Icedream
- Red: a sandwich or 8- or 12-count nuggets
- Signature: an entrée of your choice
The reward is good for 30 days. If your birthday falls on a Sunday, it arrives on Saturday.
14. Panera Bread: free bakery treat
MyPanera members get a free bakery treat or bagel within 7 days of their birthday. Members who reach MyPanera+ status (by spending $300 in a year) get a free You Pick Two combo instead.
15. Chipotle: free birthday reward
Chipotle Rewards members get a birthday reward in the app, usually chips with guacamole or queso, or a drink. Keep your account active, since points can expire after long breaks.
16. Jersey Mike’s: free sub
If you’ve bought a regular sub in the past year, MyMike’s members get 72 Shore Points on their birthday, enough for a free regular sub, sub in a tub or wrap. The points don’t expire on your birthday, so you can use them later.
17. Firehouse Subs: free medium sub
Firehouse Rewards members get a free medium sub for their birthday with a purchase.
18. Red Robin: free shake or burger
Red Robin Royalty members get a free birthday milkshake. If you spent at least $10 there during the year, it becomes a free gourmet burger instead. Redeem it during your birthday month, and a small minimum purchase may apply when you dine in.
19. Panda Express: free side or entrée
Panda Rewards members get a birthday gift during their birth month. Members report a choice of a small entrée, small appetizer or medium side.
20. Potbelly: free treat that grows with you
Potbelly Perks members get a birthday reward based on their level, from a cookie or Dream Bar at the start up to a shake or entrée at higher levels.
Beauty and shopping birthday freebies
Beauty brands give some of the most generous birthday freebies, often deluxe samples worth more than a meal.
21. Sephora: Beauty Insider birthday gift
The Sephora birthday gift is free for every Beauty Insider tier. In 2026 the choices include Glossier, Tower 28, Dr. Dennis Gross and Dae, with K18, Gisou and innisfree later in the year, per Sephora’s 2026 announcement.
- Free in store at Sephora and Sephora at Kohl’s, with no purchase.
- Online it needs a $25 order at sephora.com (no minimum on Kohls.com).
- You can take 250 Beauty Insider points instead of a gift in store or at Kohl’s.
22. Ulta Beauty: choice of free gift

23. Bath & Body Works: free item up to $9.95

AMC Stubs Premiere GO! and Premiere members get a free large popcorn and fountain drink for their birthday, per AMC’s announcement. The free Insider tier doesn’t include this perk.
